• The Ebony series of Crepe Myrtles is a group of hybrids introduced a few years ago. This group of Crape Myrtle trees was bred and cultivated for their disease resistance and unique, consistently colored, dark burgundy-purple, to almost black foliage .
• Lagerstroemia Ebony and Ivory is a striking crape myrtle with dramatic near-black foliage and pure white blooms. Offers bold contrast and long summer color. A compact, mildew-resistant tree/shrub.
• Care: When mature, plant Crape Myrtles outdoors in fertile, well-draining soil. Water as needed to maintain soil moisture. Feed a good-quality, slow-release, general-purpose fertilizer with initial planting and annually in spring as plants begin to break dormancy. Prune in late summer to early fall after flowering. Avoid pruning near or during dormancy or in spring when plants begin to sprout to avoid cutting away the next seasons blooms. Avoid overwatering during dormancy.
• Indoor Growing: Crape Myrtles are not suitable for indoor growing.
• Climate: Crape Myrtles are recommended for Tropical to Temperate Climates of USDA Zones 7B, 8, 9. In Zone 7B plants should be heavily mulched well ahead of first frost.
